This CATIA V5 Foundation Plus learning path will teach you how to start a complex design project from its specifications (top down approach) and complete it by reusing existing data. It will focus on advanced skills and concepts that enable you to create and analyse complex parts and assemblies.

Duration

4 Day Course

Prerequisites

Students attending this course will have previously attended the CATIA V5 Foundation course before this.

Level

Intermediate Training

What to Expect?

Learning Objectives

  • Create a complex model in CATIA
  • Create and manage a structured model
  • Design parts in the context of an assembly

CATIA V5 Foundation Plus Agenda

The following lessons are included in the course

Lesson 1: Introduction to the Mechanical Design Expert
  • In this lesson, you will take an overview of the user interfaces of the Part Design, Assembly Design and the Wireframe and Surface Design workbenches.
  • You will also learn about organizing a solid model.
Lesson 2: Designing Complex Parts
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to design complex parts by creating advanced sketch-based features and dress-up features.
  • You will also learn how to use the multi-body approach.
Lesson 3: Working with Surface Design
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to create complex wireframe and surface geometries.
  • You will also learn to perform operations on complex surfaces.
Lesson 4: Analysing and Annotating Parts
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to analyse parts and wireframes using draft and curvature analysis.
  • You will also annotate parts and create 3D constraints.
Lesson 5: Sharing Information
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to share information by creating power copies and catalogues.
  • You will also learn to create parameters, formulae and design tables.
Lesson 6: Working with Assembly Design
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to create flexible assemblies and manage them.
  • You will also learn to analyse assemblies, detect clashes and finally generate reports.
Lesson 7: Designing in Context
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to create features in the context of a part and parts in the context of an assembly.
  • You will also learn how to create assembly level features like holes, pockets and split etc.
Lesson 8: Designing Complex Assemblies
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to design complex assemblies by creating a skeleton model.
  • You will also learn how to create and manage publications.

Training Methods

Choose from three different training methods available to you

Surface Designer 3DEXPERIENCE Transition
Group / Classroom Training

Receive CATIA V5 Foundation Plus training in a group in a traditional classroom environment. Courses can be taken in one of our training locations in the UK, Ireland, US or Canada using DS approved training content and methodologies.

Advantages
  • Cost effective training method.
  • Leave the office to concentrate on learning.
  • Learn more through group questions and feedback.
Learn 3DEXPERIENCE online
Live Online Training

With online training you will experience an interactive learning environment where you can give feedback, gain access to the training files and get time to work on training exercises.

Advantages
  • Online courses can maximise convenience and save on travel expenses.
  • More effective than video based training, with recorded videos learners are often not as focused on the training and skip exercises.
3DEXPERIENCE onsite training
On-Site Training

Receive training at your place of work. This style of flexible training is perfect for teams or individuals who are faced with a specific challenge and require personalized courses with on-the-job coaching.

Advantages
  • Use our state-of-the-art mobile classroom at your facility.
  • Bring your team up to a consistent level of knowledge by having them take the same training at the same time.
  • Benefit from flexible scheduling options.
