This CATIA V5 Finite Element Analysis (FEA) course is based on the Generative Structural Analysis workbench functionality provided by the GPS, GAS products.
Some advanced functionality provided by the EST (Elfini Structural Analysis) product may also be covered depending on customer requirements.
This course will start with a short, basic introduction to the “Finite Element Method” theory for linear static FEA and will continue with hands-on training in how to use the CATIA V5 Generative Structural Analysis workbench to analyse single parts, and assemblies.
For customers who have access to the EST product, this course can be extended for a third day to cover more advanced topics provided by EST.
What to Expect?
Learning Objectives
- Basic understanding of the finite element method for linear static analysis
- Understand the limitations of the above-mentioned products for carrying out FEA
- Become familiar with the Generative Structural Analysis workbench interface
- How and when to use 1D, 2D, 3D mesh elements
- Tools and Techniques for preparing the model for FEA (de-featuring, creating restricted areas for applying boundary conditions)
- Define and Apply materials
- Apply realistic boundary conditions
- Apply Restraints
- Apply Loads
- Define Virtual Parts
- Define Assembly Analysis Connections (including Face-to-Face Slider, Contact and Fastened, Bolt Tightening, Spot Welds, Seam Welds, Pressure Fitting, and others)
- Compute the analysis (includes some recommendations for machine specifications and setup)
- Create and modify analysis result Images (Deformation, Von Mises Stress, Displacement, Principle Stress, Precision)

Training Methods
Choose from three different training methods available to you

Group / Classroom Training
Receive CATIA V5 Finite Element Analysis training in a group in a traditional classroom environment. Courses can be taken in one of our training locations in the UK, Ireland, US or Canada using DS approved training content and methodologies.
Advantages
- Cost effective training method.
- Leave the office to concentrate on learning.
- Learn more through group questions and feedback.

Live Online Training
With online training you will experience an interactive learning environment where you can give feedback, gain access to the training files and get time to work on training exercises.
Advantages
- Online courses can maximise convenience and save on travel expenses.
- More effective than video based training, with recorded videos learners are often not as focused on the training and skip exercises.

On-Site Training
Receive training at your place of work. This style of flexible training is perfect for teams or individuals who are faced with a specific challenge and require personalized courses with on-the-job coaching.
Advantages
- Use our state-of-the-art mobile classroom at your facility.
- Bring your team up to a consistent level of knowledge by having them take the same training at the same time.
- Benefit from flexible scheduling options.
