ENOVIA Story
Chapter 6
Simple Tools for Managing Complex Engineering Change
Managing change efficiently is essential in any product development cycle so ENOVIA makes it straightforward.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers powerful tools that help businesses maintain control over their change processes, ensuring smooth revisions and seamless collaboration.
Watch the video and read on to discover the clear and structured process that ensures changes are handled with precision.
What 3DEXPERIENCE Roles Do I Need?
Initiating Changes from Multiple Locations
Whether originating from an issue marker or directly through the change execution widget, changes can be initiated from various points within the platform. This flexibility allows teams to kick off changes without disrupting the workflow.
Assigning Roles and Responsibilities
Each change is equipped with members like assignees, approvers, and users to be kept informed. These roles ensure clear accountability and that everyone involved is updated on the change’s progress.
Tracking Properties and Linking Issues
Similar to other objects in the platform, changes have properties that can be updated as needed. Additionally, issues can be linked directly to a change, allowing for easy reference and ensuring that all relevant data is tied together.
Attaching Supporting Information
Supporting documents, photos, and other relevant materials can be attached directly to a change action. This ensures that all the necessary information is readily available for review and implementation, facilitating a smoother approval process.
Proposing and Updating Objects
The platform allows for a range of objects—whether CAD models, documents, or requirements—to be attached as part of the proposed changes. This ensures that the change action is not only comprehensive but also incorporates the necessary revisions.
Release and Revision Control
ENOVIA allows you to manage the release dates of objects for the first time or even revise and release updates of previously released data. This level of control ensures that your engineering team remains in sync with the latest versions of your work.
Approval Workflow
Once the data is in the correct state, the change action moves into the approval phase. This is when notifications are sent out to all involved parties—approvers and users alike—ensuring that everyone is aware of the required actions. The intuitive platform makes it easy for approvers to review changes directly through a viewing widget, simplifying the approval process.
Finalizing the Change
After approval, the data is officially released, and the change action is marked as complete. The entire process, from initiation to completion, is tracked within a single platform, streamlining collaboration and ensuring that all stakeholders are kept informed.
How This Stage Connects to Other PLM Stages
- Commonly triggered by Issue Management (stage 04)
- Requires documents/evidence from Manage Documents (stage 05)
- Moves into Controlling Changes (stage 07) for working-under-change governance
