DELMIA Assembly Structure Preparer for Marine (PASPM) provides Manufacturing Engineers a powerful multi-view environment for the definition of the manufacturing construction/production strategy of their marine products.
Authoring the Manufacturing Items Structure with PASPM – in particular the definition of large manufacturing assemblies – is building the bridge between the typically function-oriented Engineering Items Structure (Product Structure) and the downstream manufacturing engineering business processes. These are fabrication of the hull (steel structure), outfitting of fluidic (piping), HVAC and electrical systems objects, as well as the subsequent engineering of detailed processes (operations) along with work instructions, assembly and fabrication simulations, etc.
In addition to the 3D based definition of the ’as-planned‘Manufacturing Items Structure, PASPM provides functions to automatically create 2D assembly drawings.
Based on the powerful 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, Assembly Structure Preparer enables design, manufacturing and industrial engineers to virtually collaborate on assembly strategy and related business processes, and with the extended enterprise through the universal language of 3D.
Assembly Structure Preparer Benefits
Define the manufacturing assembly strategy for large marine products
PASPM is an efficient 3D model-based transparent solution leveraging both powerful 3D visualization tools, and alphanumerical information to rapidly define the manufacturing assembly strategy for large marine products.
Business rule integrations fully or partially tailor and automate the generation of the Manufacturing Items Structure based on Engineering Items Structure objects and attributes.
Collaboration to reduce errors
The Manufacturing Items Structure is the basis for generation of assembly drawings, and it seamlessly connects to the management of downstream business processes such as the authoring of structure fabrication deliverables (refer to e.g. role PSWPM) and process planning (refer to role PERFM).
Transparency and automation are keys to enable collaboration through the unique language of 3D, and both help to reduce the number of errors, which otherwise would be found later in the production process (e.g. missing parts, wrong parts, wrongly assigned parts, assembly sequence issues, etc.).
Governance via the 3DEXPEREINCE platform
Because Assembly Structure Preparer is based on the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, governance business processes such as revision management, lifecycle management, issue management, document management, etc. are provided on the manufacturing data managed by PASPM. Some governance management roles and applications such as configuration management, change management, project management do require additional licenses.
Assembly Structure Preparer Highlights
Manufacturing item structure management for all marine and offshore manufacturing disciplines
PASPM enables manufacturing engineers in Hull structure, HVAC, Piping, Electrical, and all other shipbuilding disciplines to author the assembly structure, create assembly drawings and so to prepare the basis for downstream business processes. Authoring the assembly structure involves deciding which components are assembled in the pre-outfitting of blocks and sections, which are assembled in final outfitting stages independent of how the Engineering Item Structure is organized. The user can decide which parts to purchase and which assemblies and parts to make. If the Engineering structure contains fasteners (typically the case for Structure Design Data) when generating the MBOM, corresponding fasten items will be created as well.
Unique PASPM 3D immersive multi-view user interface
PASPM provides various UI elements to perform the job even on thousands of objects. Among these UI elements: A grid view (3-dimensional PERT-like chart) to illustrate the assembly composition with 3D representations displayed on tiles, or a classical tree view and a smart-tool auxiliary viewer with a corresponding parts list with plenty of possibilities to visualize what is already planned versus what is left to be planned. We also provide intelligent mechanisms to ease selection of sibling objects in general and spools in piping.
User interface and business logic customization for authoring, navigation and output
PASPM’s open architecture provides the ability to customize the authoring, data navigation and output documents according to the company’s needs. Thanks to possible invocation of business rules for aggregation, assignment and naming, it is possible to automate the creation of the Manufacturing Item Structure.
2D derived from 3D
Assembly Structure Preparer gives manufacturing engineers the ability to produce classical hard-copy output of assembly drawings for the production. These drawings are computed automatically from the Manufacturing Items Structure composition and the build-up. Consequently, whenever you modify this composition it is taken into account in the drawing automatically. For the management of the drawing the customer benefits from the functionalities provided by CATIA Drafting Application.
Manufacturing Context Building (Session Building)
When dealing with large data sets in the Marine & Offshore industry, you typically build a proper manufacturing context. You select a reduced data set in order to keep the number of objects loaded into the authoring session to a certain limit. This mechanism is called Session Building. The session building is performed in the Manufacturing Context Builder (MCB), an application that is available in all authoring roles. MCB comes with powerful filtering capabilities (attribute, volume, configuration) and viewing functions based on light representations. In addition to that, you can find objects linked to each other by various relationships, and load the objects consistently into the authoring session. This concept is called Smart Completion. On top of that, the user can define recipes to combine filters, tree expansion, navigation and completion. This is called User-Defined completion or User-Defined Open, depending on where the completion is being performed (client side or server side).
Synchronization Manager
In order to identify modifications (new, modified or new revision, deleted) on the Engineering Item Structure, PASPM provides a powerful synchronization manager that helps you identify and focus on the changes. The tool allows controlled (mass) updates as well as decision-making on how to deal with modifications. For example, whether to revise the manufacturing item structure or simply re-route links.
Issue Management
This generic command for all roles in Digital Manufacturing allows reporting of issues against the objects managed in this role. The issues are stored in the platform and hence easily shared with all collaborators.
