DELMIA Assembly Simulation Expert (PSR) enables users to perform product assembly or disassembly feasibility studies in 3D. The powerful algorithms allow users to easily develop collision-free paths automatically. These intuitive capabilities help discover potential assembly or disassembly issues and communicate these discoveries directly to product designers, process engineers, tooling designers or other stakeholders early, when changes are easier and less expensive.
Assembly Simulation Expert can leverage any information regarding process engineering and 3D layout by directly accessing and generating tracks from it. This helps to optimize and validate the global assembly or disassembly process in the most efficient way.
Assembly Simulation Expert Benefits
Determine feasibility early in the design phase
Companies can perform assembly and disassembly feasibility studies early in the product and process design phase, when changes are simpler and less costly.
Determine assembly and disassembly process validation during detailed process plans definition
Provides direct access to operation sequences and product positions defined upstream by process engineers. This eliminates the need to set up the initial state of visualization before the assembly process detailing and validation, as the user will receive the correct manufacturing context. It supports configured product and process cases. This allows the manufacturing engineer to check several product and process configurations to fully validate the feasibility of the process.
Improve manufacturing and maintenance process quality
Create and validate the assembly process in the context of the shop floor environment, with the best possible understanding of the impact on manufacturing and maintenance processes.
Assembly Simulation Expert Highlights
Automatically generate collision-free assembly and disassembly trajectories
Using simple and intuitive commands, users of Assembly Simulation Expert can automatically generate collision-free trajectories to help find potential product, tool, tooling or process design issues earlier. Using multiple types of user inputs such as start, intermediate, end points, specific clearances versus surrounding parts, guiding points, bounding box or guiding path (radius around the original track) to restrict the area of computation.
Advanced capabilities to influence and facilitate the path computation
All along the computation process of the collision-free path, the user receives multiple visual feedback to understand and analyze the progress. At any time, they are able to influence computation by providing the orientation axis to extract from the initial position, and manually set intermediate track points (must go through), add guiding points and adjust inputs parameters (interferences, rotation restrictions, translation ranges, etc…)
See the product buildup, operation by operation, in the resource context
Leverage the work of upstream process engineers who have defined the manufacturing assemblies and the associated sequence of operations. To see the product buildup in the context of the selected operation along with the 3D layout of assigned resources, just select the desired operation from a Gantt chart, the tree, or an operation thumbnail. Receive a clear understanding of the state of the assembled product in the current context of resources without the distraction of other product parts.
Define collections for clash detection
Within Assembly Simulation Expert, manufacturing engineers can define different collections of part and assemblies as part of the moving or contextual group. Between each of these collections, the user can detail specific clearances during path computation. This will allow the user to specify the clash detection conditions without having to use the Manufacturing Simulation model with related scenarios and probes, and simply rely on the PSR context model.
Track Analysis Assistant
Delivers an advanced user interface to visualize any interference in 3D. Analyze with the help of color codes and interference values, and make decisions to either adapt input parameters or simply ignore it. At any time during computation and the track replay, the Track Analysis Assistant will display the interfering parts synchronously with necessary information to help the user make the right decision to reach a collision-free path faster. If the resulting path is irregular, PSR offers a dedicated function to automatically optimize the track and achieve a smoother result by reducing rotation and translation motions.
Design in simulation context
During simulation, users can stop and switch to a design application like Part Design or Sketcher, maintain the current transient state, and facilitate design changes in context. This helps them modify resource designs with respect to geometrical constraints imposed by the 3D simulation context, and validate resources early in the process.
Perform swept-volume analysis during simulation replay
Users can generate swept volumes of part trajectories during animation replay. Swept volume results can be updated when a design or assembly path change occurs, eliminating the need for the creation of a new swept volume. Swept volumes are useful when analyzing the space constraints needed to manipulate a part into its assembled position — and to communicate these requirements to part designers and other stakeholders.
