SysML v2

SysML v2 is the next generation of the Systems Modeling Language (SysML), designed to be a more precise, expressive, extensible, interoperable, and usable standard for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Key Features and Capabilities

SysML is a key enabler of MBSE for modeling complex systems. It enhances communication between systems engineers, designers, and stakeholders to understand each other unambiguously.

SysML v2 addresses limitations of SysML v1 to improve MBSE adoption and effectiveness by introducing a new metamodel, a standardized API, and a combined approach of graphical and a new textual notation for defining models. This makes it easier to integrate into modern development workflows, support automation, and improve interoperability between tools.

Preparing for SysML v2

With the R2026x release of the Cameo No Magic portfolio, Dassault Systemes will support SysML v2 in addition to SysML v1. There are some important aspects to this support that you should be aware of:

  • Only the Cameo M2E-N, M2E-C, M3E-N, and M3E-C No Magic license configurations will support SysMLv2. If you do systems engineering via a custom configuration of a MagicDraw base license with the SysML plugin as an add-on or via a M3A-N or M3A-C license configuration, then SysML v2 support will not be included.

Training Course

TriMech offers a training course to help you get you up to speed with the latest version of SysML. Intro to MBSE and SysML with Cameo.

This course is for systems engineers looking to learn the SysML language and system modeling via CATIA Magic tools, also known as Cameo. This course is beginner friendly with a combination of lecture slides, demonstrations, and interactive workshops.
