ENOVIA Story
Chapter 8
Simple Tools for Effective Implementation of Engineering Change
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides a modular approach to product lifecycle management.
ENOVIA encourages a single, shared engineering product definition and powers two key tools can help you reduce errors and minimize rework when implementing change:
Read on and watch the videos to discover how these roles ensure teams are always working on up-to-date information, avoiding the potential for confusion and errors.
Introducing the Product Release Engineer
Simplify the process of modifying existing product structures in your browser with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Traditionally, making modifications to CAD structures (such as inserting components into assemblies) would require direct access to CAD software.
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables product structures to be managed and modified directly within a browser, so even non-CAD users can implement changes.
Watch the video and read on to discover how the Product Release Engineer role can reduce your dependency on CAD software whilst encouraging extra levels of efficiency within workflows.
What 3DEXPERIENCE Roles Do I Need?
Key Features of Engineering Release
The Product Release Engineer role includes the Engineering Release application that makes it easy to structure your assembly exactly as you need, without relying on CAD software.
The process is as simple as dragging and dropping components to adjust the layout of the assembly, all within the browser interface:
- Insert new or existing products into assemblies
- Locate the desired component
- Reorder the assembly structure
- Right click to update revisions
View Assembly Instances and Check Revisions
Adding the Engineering Release widget to your 3DEXPERIENCE dashboard also gives you a clear view of different assembly instances.
You can switch between the “usage view” and “reference view” to better understand how components are being utilized and ensure that revisions are correct.
Assign Part Numbers and Manage Lifecycle
For compliance and proper documentation, you can assign part numbers to the inserted components.
This ensures that your assembly is in line with company standards and requirements.
Additionally, the Engineering Release widget enables you to update the lifecycle status of the assembly as needed, providing full traceability of changes.
Attach Related Documentation
If necessary, you can also attach additional documentation or items to the assembly. This could include specifications, drawings, or other critical files, all of which can be managed directly through the platform.
Introducing the Product Structure Editor
Discover seamless part insertion, modification, and revision updates within a browser-based environment.
The 3D Product Architect role on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform combines a tree-format assembly representation with a real-time graphical view in the Product Structure Editor application.
Watch the video and read on to discover how the Product Structure Editor provides intuitive and dynamic ways of managing complex assemblies.
What 3DEXPERIENCE Roles Do I Need?
Key Features of Product Structure Editor
The Product Structure Editor application allows users to visualize an assembly structure in both tree format and a 3D graphical representation.
Cross-highlighting between these views ensures an intuitive and interactive experience, making it easier to understand and navigate complex assemblies:
- Visualize the assembly
- Modify the product structure
- Insert and position components
- Right click to update revisions
Suitable for Non-CAD Users
New parts can be created within the structure and later assigned geometry in CAD software, while existing parts can be inserted into the structure with ease.
Users gain the flexibility to place components approximately before refining their constraints within CAD software through simple, unconstrained positioning adjustments.
One of the most critical aspects of assembly management is ensuring that the latest revisions of components are used.
Your ENOVIA Story Continues…
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform has a plethora of modular functionality to help streamline the engineering process.
Roles like the Product Release Engineer and 3D Product Architect help teams to save time and reduce errors, making them valuable tools for teams looking to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and design integrity.
