Part Design Essentials is a streamlined version of the Part Design app that provides access to a limited set of tools that provide core functionality.

Generative Wireframe and Surface provides tools for creating and manipulating curves and surfaces, often used in conjunction with solid modeling for hybrid designs.

It allows users to build complex 3D shapes by constructing surfaces using curves, lines, and points, offering more freedom than constraint-based design.

Mechanical Systems Design enables you to create and define mechanisms from a product assembly, and perform kinematics simulations of the mechanism motion.

The Sheet Metal Design app offers an intuitive and flexible user interface. It provides an associative feature-based modeling, making it possible to design sheet metal representations in concurrent engineering between the unfolded or folded 3D shape representation.

Sheet Metal Design offers the following capabilities:

• Associative and dedicated sheet metal feature-based modeling.
• Concurrent engineering between unfolded or folded 3D shape representations.
• Access to company-defined standards tables.
  Dedicated drawing capability including unfolded view and specific settings.
• All sheet metal specifications can be re-used by the Knowledge Advisor app to capture corporate knowledge and increase the quality of designs.

Natively integrated, Sheet Metal Design offers the same ease of use and user interface consistency as all apps.

Engineering IP Control helps you manage and protect intellectual property by providing a filtering mechanism integrated to your exchange processes. OEM, supplier chain, and risk sharing partners are provided with only the data they need to share to complete their product definition operations. 3D Functional Tolerancing and Annotation uses a model-based definition (MBD) approach to enable users to specify tolerances and add annotations to their 3D parts and products.

3D Annotation Insight enables you to review dimensions, tolerances, and 3D annotations by applying different filters.

Using the 3D Annotation Insight app, you can:

• Visualize mechanical dimensions and tolerances.

Human Design provides a set of tools to quickly create and edit a human model.

Mechanical Systems Experience lets you simulate the motion of assembly mechanisms in different configurations.

The app lets you:

• Define time-based simulations.
• Create time-based excitations.
• Preview and run simulations.
• View animations of the simulation results.
• Dynamically search for interferences between the mechanism components.
• Generate data from the animation results, including tabular measurement reports, geometric traces, and swept volumes.
• Generate snapshots of the mechanism state at various stages of the simulation.

Static Study is a desktop app that lets you create and manage:

• A finite element model that is used to represent the model's geometry during a simulation.
• Materials that specify the mechanical behavior and properties of the model.
• Contact that models the interaction between components of an assembly.
• Restraints (such as clamps and hinges) that fix translational or rotational degrees of freedom of portions of the model.
• Loads (such as pressure and forces) that represent concentrated or distributed tractions applied to a model by an external source.
• Results features that help you analyze and view the completed simulation.

A static stress simulation evaluates the structural response of a design under static loads. Some simple examples of static loads include placing a weight on the end of a beam or stretching a spring. Such loads are typical of what a structure experiences over the course of its life.

You can perform static stress simulations on any product consisting of a single, solid, three-dimensional part or an assembly of multiple parts. You can create connections at the interface of two components in an assembly. In addition, you can account for contact in the assembly, which prevents unconnected surfaces of the model from penetrating each other if they come into contact.

Static stress simulations are not appropriate for simulating the effects of transient loads, such as quick impacts or oscillating forces.

Generative Shape Design allows you to quickly model both simple and complex shapes using wireframe and surface features. It provides a large set of tools for creating and editing shape designs and, when combined with other apps such as Part Design meets the requirements of solid-based hybrid modeling.

Generative Shape Design provides the following key capabilities:

• The feature -based approach offers a productive and intuitive design environment to capture and re-use design methodologies and specifications.
• Its intuitive interface offers the possibility to produce precision shape designs with very few interactions.
• The dialog boxes are self explanatory and require practically no methodology, all defining steps being commutative.
• As a scalable app, Generative Shape Design can be used with other apps such as Part Design and FreeStyle Shape Design.

The Generative Shape Develop app allows users to create 2D flattened surfaces from their 3D designs. Key Capabilities include:

• Unfolding a Surface
• Creating a Surface with UV Parametrization
• Reviewing and managing distortions
• Exporting 2D Contours

Shape Healing provides a set of tools for work on the geometry and topology of surfaces. Parts that have not been created with 3DEXPERIENCE may not conform to standards of validity and be in need of repairs before being used.

Shape Healing helps you:

• Analyze surfaces for problems (gaps in distance, tangency, and curvature)
• Fix any problems that may be found.
• Compare two versions of a model, navigate through the modifications found, add review information on them, save and export the result and edit it for further enhancement.

• Generate free form 3D curves and surfaces from scratch, and dynamically deform and analyze all produced elements.
• Create and modify curve and surface shapes based on other elements such as digitized data.
• Directly create complex surfaces based on profiles and sets of curves in one step, without having to deform them in a second step.

The generative shape morphing app provides tools for:

• Wrapping curves, surfaces and shapes
• Creating bumped elements

The Mechanical Surface Refinement app provides a set of 3DEXPERIENCE ICEM main functionalities for Generative Shape Design users which may be used to re-design visible mechanical parts from style point of view.

The digitized shape preparation app helps process scanned data, such as point clouds and meshes, to prepare them for use in 3D modelling. It is a particularly useful set of tools for reverse engineering.

Virtual to Real Shape Morphing optimizes shapes to take load conditions into account, or optimize tooling.

Virtual to Real Shape Morphing has following main application fields:

• Ability to represent parts under load conditions.
• Ability to perform a reverse analysis to optimize tooling (Die, Cast, Mold, ...)
• Ability to optimize the part definition, based on "as built" measurements compared to CAD initial definition.
