What is the course
Course Overview
This 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA Sheet Metal Design course will teach you how to use the Bent Part Design app to create and modify a sheet metal part. You will learn how to define the sheet metal parameters and create features such as walls, bends, cut outs and corners.
You will also learn different techniques for multi-selecting the objects and constraining the parts. In this module, you learn to simplify and accelerate the hydroformed sheet metal part design process with ready-to-manufacture parts. You will also learn to optimize the design and validate it.
What you learn
Learning Objectives
- Define and modify the sheet metal parameters
- Create a sheet metal part using the wall and bend features
- Manage the folded and unfolded views of parts
- Create cut outs, chamfers and corners
- Constrain the parts
- Access the company-defined standards tables
- Create dedicated sheet metal features such as joggles, stamps, and flanges
- Use power copy
- Validate the design using checks and overlaps
- Prepare the part for manufacturing
What You'll Learn
Course Agenda
Practice CATIA Bent Part Design
Lesson 1: Introduction to the Bent Part Design App
- This lesson introduces the Bent Part Design app and its user interface.
Lesson 2: Creating the Parts
- This lesson describes the various methods to create walls, cut outs and other features, and how to reuse them.
Lesson 3: Modifying the Parts
- This lesson describes how to modify existing parameters of parts by manipulating and interacting with the handles.
Lesson 4: Constraining the Parts
- This lesson describes how to use constraints to specify dimensions of a part or modify it.
Practice CATIA Sheet Metal for Hydro-Formed Parts
Lesson 5: Overview of the CATIA Sheet Metal Hydroformed App
- In this lesson, you will explore the challenges in the design of hydroformed sheet metal components.
- You will also learn how to address them using the Dassault Systemes’ solutions.
Lesson 6: Create Design in Context
- In this lesson, you will define sheet metal parameters and start designing the features.
Lesson 7: Strengthen the Part
- In this lesson, you will design additional features to provide strength to the sheet metal part.
- You will create flanges and add a joggle on a flange.
Training Methods
Choose from three different training methods available to you
Group / Classroom Training
Receive 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA Sheet Metal Design training in a group in a traditional classroom environment. Courses can be taken in one of our training locations in the UK, Ireland, US or Canada using DS approved training content and methodologies.
Advantages
- Cost effective training method.
- Leave the office to concentrate on learning.
- Learn more through group questions and feedback.
Live Online Training
With online training you will experience an interactive learning environment where you can give feedback, gain access to the training files and get time to work on training exercises.
Advantages
- Online courses can maximise convenience and save on travel expenses.
- More effective than video based training, with recorded videos learners are often not as focused on the training and skip exercises.
On-Site Training
Receive training at your place of work. This style of flexible training is perfect for teams or individuals who are faced with a specific challenge and require personalized courses with on-the-job coaching.
Advantages
- Use our state-of-the-art mobile classroom at your facility.
- Bring your team up to a consistent level of knowledge by having them take the same training at the same time.
- Benefit from flexible scheduling options.
