Course Overview

In this 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA Composites course you will discover and practice the key capabilities of the Airframe Composites Designer role. You will also learn how to design composites parts using the Manual and Grid Approach. The CATIA Composites Design app offers composites design engineers with a complete set of process-oriented features to engineer composites parts. This learning module lets you practice the various approaches used to design a composites part.

You will also learn how to analyse composites design and generate production documents. In this module, you will discover the Airframe Composites Manufacturing Engineer role along with its key capabilities to manufacture composites parts. The learning module enables you to prepare composites parts for manufacturing, analyse them for producibility and export the composites information for downstream manufacturing processes.

  • In this lesson, you will learn how to perform the producibility analysis on multiple plies and splice plies into cut pieces.

  • In this lesson, you will learn how to create a drawing for composites entities using GVS and generate a ply book.
Lesson 7: Create a Preliminary Design Using the Grid Approach
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to define a grid panel and a grid to create a preliminary grid design of a composite part.
Lesson 8: Create a Detailed Design Using the Grid Approach
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to create virtual stacking using the grid and generate plies and a top surface from virtual stacking.
  • You will also learn how to create solid using the iso-thickness areas and junction lines.

Lesson 11: Design a Composites Core
  • In this lesson, you will design a composites core that acts as stiffening for the composites part.
  • You will also generate an elevated top surface from the core.

Lesson 22: Prepare the Manufacturing Part for Laser Projection
  • In this lesson, you will learn how to define a laser projector, create additional geometries, compute and export laser projection data.
