The ENOVIA 3DEXPERIENCE Materials Compliance Manager (MCM) Role enables companies to collect, track, analyze and report a product’s environmental compliance against chemical substance or material content regulations.
Materials Compliance Manager can represent and operate on a product bill of materials created by product engineering teams or imported from a 3rd party BOM system. Components that are not applicable to compliance regulations can be disabled from compliance assessment. Manufacturer Equivalent Parts can be then created and associated to BOM components to represent outsourced parts from suppliers.
Materials Compliance Manager Benefits
Regulation Modeling
Materials Compliance Manager has the capability to define virtually any materials based compliance regulation in the world. In addition to being able to define thresholds based on material or part substance content, companies can also define thresholds that are specific to certain types of parts (such as batteries or textiles). Also, exemptions can be defined that allow for substances to be used that are normally restricted. As a free service provided with Materials Compliance Manager, a number of configuration files are provided and maintained that define the most common regulations in the market today.
BOM Creation
Materials Compliance Manager can represent and operate on a product bill of materials created in Product Engineering or imported from a 3rd party BOM system. Components that are not applicable to compliance regulations can be disabled from compliance assessment. Manufacturer Equivalent Parts can be then created and associated to BOM components to represent outsourced parts from suppliers.
Material Declaration Collection Process
Companies can easily identify unreported parts and request material declarations from suppliers. Once the supplier responds, material declarations can be imported using a variety of industry standard formats such as IPC 1752, IMDS, JAMP, or JAMA. The supplier declaration can then be analyzed for correctness and acceptability; further approved or rejected. Only approved Material Declarations become effective and influence the compliance of products.
Problem Analysis
Using complex reports, compliance engineers can assess the compliance of their products to determine if there are problems that need to be addressed. Once a compliance issue has been uncovered, compliance engineers can take actions such as requesting a supplier to address a compliance problem with a component or choosing an alternate part.
Customer Reporting
Once a company has collected and analyzed the compliance information for their products, they can then report the compliance to their customers using a variety of formats and techniques. Industry standard formats such as IMDS or IPC 1752 can be used, or companies can choose to use a generic export or report. Filters and controls are provided to all important compliance information to be reported while protecting proprietary information.
Materials Compliance Manager Highlights
