The SIMULIA 3DEXPERIENCE Additive Manufacturing Analysis Engineer (AMF-OC) Role allows the user to conduct a physically realistic process-based simulation of a part to be manufactured by 3D printing.
The Role leverages information such as build environment, geometric support structures, slicing thickness and laser scan path data generated using the Additive Manufacturing Programmer Role. Realistic thermo-mechanical properties of materials are used which can capture the heat transfer and phase transformation of materials during the printing process.
Cooling and radiation between the different layers are captured by using the evolving free surface definitions to define convection and radiation properties. This leads to accurate prediction of part distortion and material property distribution. When used in conjunction with the CATIA Reverse Shape Optimizer Role the predicted distortion can be used to compensate the as-designed geometry such that the final printed part matches the design intent. In-service loading of as-printed parts including residual stress history can be predicted to validate load capacity, flexibility, and service life.
Additive Manufacturing Analysis Engineer is fully interoperable with the Function Driven Generative Designer (GDE) and Additive Manufacturing Programmer (AMP) Roles to provide an end-to-end solution for additive manufacturing part design on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
